Baiting Game

I guess I shouldn’t use doe pee or rattling antlers either since that’s bringing them to me.
Not the same. It's just my opinion and is only important to me as a traditional hunter. I either harvest one or I don't. If my family was starving to death I might make an exception. I would make that exception in a case of dire straights. For seasonal hunting for pleasure I don't subscribe to baiting just to make a kill. Bating is not hunting it is target practice on a live animal. PERIOD! You are not leaving your success to chance and skill. The deer will accumulate if feed is set out everyday that's a no brainier. It just is not traditional hunting. No argument can be made to dispute it. One can make excuses but they are only that. Excuses to justify not relying on skill and chance. The deer have to have a chance at escaping your sites that's the real deal. People go out and set out feed for deer, then sit inside a blind with a mechanical device to support the firearm. That's just ridiculous. That is taking every bit of skill out of the game..

I will see many deer where I am hunting. I know the sweet spots where they move. I will take pics and post them after I go. Especially if see the trophy I am after. Baiting is the lazy way. You are bringing the deer to you as opposed to you going out and hunting for the deer.
I don't bait, use other attractors or cameras. I do want to get in and out as fast as possible. Get back to the house and do somethin else

I don't care for baiting for many of the reasons you cited. It encourages unnatural animal movements and congregation. This leads to, as you noted, deer on highways, and the propensity for increased cases of CWD in deer, due to the fact that they congregate in one concentrated area more often. I like the idea of scouting as well. Maybe I'm old fashioned.

It doesn’t cause deer to congregate and transmit diseases.
With this central nervous system disease they can carry they don't have to congregate. The saliva and urine can transmit the disease long after an infected deer leave the area. In some cases under the correct soil conditions it can infect other deer for several years.

I posted a thread about this disease on here sometime ago and explained it in detail. Actually our county ( Bedford County ) was the first to introduce gun season opening the same day bow season started or it was the first day of black powder can't remember the day it started but it was long before official modern firearms season started. Surrounding Counties also followed suit in order to cull the deer population in a desperate attempt to keep deer contact down to a minimum. You could take up to four deer. If you donated the meat to ( Food For the Poor ) they gave you an additional 4 tags. On top of that you were entered into a $1,000 hunting gear giveaway. A huge tent and then a grand worth of gear to go along with it. Pretty drastic measure if you think about it.

I first heard of this on an outdoor channel and they had discovered it up in upper Michigan. They also said that if the deer populations weren't kept in check it would spread to the southern states. Well last year they found a right many # of cases. So started the early gun season and the increased number of deer one could harvest.
