barrel up or barrel down with sling

that was kinda what i was thinking, being he was using his experience in the marines to dictate his barrel down opinion

Muzzle down always, unless I find myself marching in formation with an M16. Here's hoping those days are long behind me.

I carried both ways.
Up in the muddy terrain, down in sandy terrain.

Barrel up so I don't shoot myself in the leg. Honestly though I don't use slings on anything. Weapon belongs in your hands not on your shoulder.

Not everyone is a ninja. When you're in the mountains and you've got to drag game a mile or two to your truck, keeping a weapon in your hands at all times is not practical. Slings serve a purpose for those of us who are recreational outdoorsman. Just my two cents. Fire away.

I carry my AR on a Magpul MS3, barrel down. Nice, versatile sling, but it does get uncomfortable really quick. If you are looking for something that's going to be comfortable for more than ten or fifteen minutes, I recommend looking elsewhere for a sling.
