"Battleship, Fun for the Whole Family!"

Sometime around 6th to 8th grade near the end of the school year there was a "Boy vs. Girl Battleship Championship". All the guys played until they had a "champion" and all the girls did likewise. I don't even remember the prize, probably Dairy Queen ice cream of something similar.

In the semi finals I faced a guy (David F) wearing big glasses, and I realized I could see his ships reflected in his glasses. Despite my best wishes I couldn't help but cheat (yeah, right). But I played the long game and didn't just wipe him out from the get-go.

When I played the girls "champion", Renee, P. she was wearing glasses also. So I just blew her out of the water with a "random" hit and kill, a few odd shots, another hit and kill. It was merciless. All the girls were saying "He's cheating! He has to be cheating!". Hey, I was. Just like in a real war, you take advantage every time you have the opportunity .

I kept hearing Clint Eastwood (as Gunny Tom Highway in "Heartbreak Ridge") saying "Improvise, Adapt, Overcome!" I passed this along to some coworkers and could hear them laughing all the way down the hall! Thanks for sharing!
