Bead blast a glock barrel?

Not all grades of stainless are rust proof, most in the 300 series are but I'm not sure what grade Glock barrels are made from. Scratching would appear immediately though.

Yeah, whatever "stainless" kimbers and Taurus use sure do rust easy.
But my point was, if you have a raw stainless barrel like pictured in the OP bead blasting it isn't gonna cause rust or any other issues.

We do a lot of bead blasting in my shop. I think a bigger issue would be that bead blasting opens up the surface and makes it susceptible to showing dirt, fingerprints, smudges, etc. We tend to run the parts in a barrel tumbler after blasting to "seal" the surface, but this also makes the part shine.

I was under the impression that Glock barrels are carbon steel, and that you can get aftermarket barrels that are stainless. If its stainless then bead blast away, but if carbon you'll need something to keep it from rusting.

I thought they were stainless with the tenifer treatment like the slide.

There are a lot of barrels out there that are bead blasted. However, the moving parts/rubbing parts will take the finish right off as soon as you start shooting it.
