Such a stupidly simple upgrade. Just a bent piece of metal, pinched in place between the front of the receiver and the rear of the forearm. They don’t call for any mods, but I filed a matching groove in my forearm to ensure that it stays in place.
I had already purchased an Arredondo extended release, which calls for drilling and tapped the existing button and attaching the extended release to it with a screw. I saw this bent piece of piece thingy, and thought, “Why the heck not?” I figured if I didn’t like it, I would go ahead and install the Arredondo.
I put a piece of grip/ladder/skateboard tape on it for a more tactile surface. When I go for it fast it catches my fingers and helps me locate it.
How does it hold up? Well, it’s been on this shotgun for at least 8-10 years now with no issues. The fancy Arredondo extended latch is still in the parts bin. If it’s stupid, and it works, it ain’t stupid.
