I'm in the market for my first "competition" handgun. i don't do anything fancy but I like shooting bowling pins and shooting steel with my buddies. I have $1,000 budget. I'm leaning towards the CZ SP01 Shadow. Thoughts and opinions?

I know I don't need that nice of a gun to do what I'm doing but I like fancy things......and I know that I can't get a true Competition gun for a grand..... but, best bang for the buck?

1.)The shadow target is a sweet shooter! I've heard it's extremely well balanced and no recoil! You might be able to find one for around that.

2.)Glock 17L or the G34 could be other good options.

3.)S&W Pro series w/ the Apex trigger system.

XDm 5.25 is an awesome weapon. about 700 bucks... M&P 5 inch pro is another option for about the same dollars. Both mentioned above...Both are very accurate.

Sig P226 USPSA edition if you can find one. probably THE sweetest shooting 9mm ever. other than that, i would vote for the XDm competition model also (easier to find)

G34. And use the rest of the cash for practice and ammo. Sometimes it takes a lot of rounds down range to make sure you and the pistol are working together correctly.

I really really want the CZ SP01 Shadow....but I can buy a Glock 34 and a XDM Comp for the price those things are going for almost. Kinda leaning towards the Glock...Maybe some trigger work and fiber optic sights and call it a day
