Best Bourbon that doesn't break the bank?

WL Weller great for $$ and hard to find. Angels Envy great for @ $50
. good luck finding angels envy as it is "allocated". Several of the Wharehouse Liqour stores near me say they may get more around Christmas if they are lucky. Finding Elijah Craig with 12 in front is next to impossible since they stopped making it with age in front. Like old charter still has the 8 on the bottle they just removed the word year. The 12yr age is on the back for now(Elijah),but I bet they will drop it not very long from now.
People are consuming aged liqours faster then they can make them, as it takes about 7 years to make a demand adjustment for bourbon. I bought two bottles of angles envy last time a Liqour store near me had any in stock. I just noticed yesterday that one was 3/4'empty. I told my wife she could try one as in one drink as she doesn't like/appreciate bourbon; and she thought I meant one bottle. She then goes on to say the only reason why she drank it was because she was out of her $12 a 1/5 vodka. My mind exploded, I calmly explained that I would have happily ran to the store to buy her cheap crap, as I am not sure when I will get the chance to replace that bottle. I am pretty sure when I do the price will be north of the $45 I paid( I get 10% off at my local Liqour store).

As far as drinking good bourbon with water, well if it is not cask strength(120-130 proof) it has already been watered down. The lower the proof the more water added, so most people are already drinking watered down bourbon. So, why do you need to add more? I have seen a guy in Vegas order a Louie the 14th cognac($300 a shot) with coke, Smfh

Yes that does seems a bit strange but it takes all types. I still look at it like coffee. Some love black coffee but most cut it with something to some degree or another. I try not to judge too much.

They did the same thing with 10 year old Evan Williams. It was a real bargain for a 10 year old. Dropped the "10 years" and kept the same labeling, Bought a couple of bottles before I noticed the change, now it doesn't say anything about age. Still a good bourbon for the price just don't appreciate the subterfuge.

That was me

My go-to has always been Wild Turkey 101 but lately I've been getting Old Grandad Bonded, both are $20-22 for a 750ml and are hard to beat on price. Other notable mentions for value are Buffalo Trace and Elijah Craig 12.

Well to you Jerks that suggested Jefferson Reserve, Im now on my second bottle, the first one went way too fast.............and at $58.99 per bottle, thats pricy. Next time get me hooked on crack, its cheaper!
I went by Kilroy's the other day in College Park (Old National Hwy right next to expressway). They had both angels envy and four roses as well as Bullet, Elijah Craig, Basil Hayden's, Jefferson and jefferson Reserve, Knob creek, Buffalo and Baker's just to name a few. I hear Angels Envy is not easy to come by, Kilroys had a few bottle on the shelf. They have a decent smattering of good bourbons. Probably priced about $5 to $10 higher than most places honestly, but decent selection.

Just got back from Louisville with a couple of my friends. Did two days worth of distillery visits. 7 distilleries. Had a great time with a tour guide company called "mint Julips". 270.00 for two days, lunch included (good lunches....not a sack lunch on the bus either!!), bourbon and bottled water on the buses, cool tour guides (hardly any stupid, piddly rules) very knowledgeable guides, funny and nice.

Louisville is a cool town too. Great downtown area with awesome food and restaurants. Good bourbon and a great variety everywhere. Even Pappy if you want to pay for the privilege!

Jeff Ruby's is an awesome steak place there. Their waiters knew more than the tour guides about bourbon and one minute's walk from the pick up place.

One day trips are available too.

I highly recommend this trip.
