Best Bourbon that doesn't break the bank?

20160823_224159.jpg
After the transmission went out in my yukon it was time for a big bourbon to ease the pain last night

I've tried several since starting this thread and think I still lean toward Bulliet as far as price and quality for myself anyway. I have not tried the green label rye though. Maybe next trip. Anyone else?

Bulliet is good....both the bourbon and the rye for the price. I had a taste test last night just to make sure. :) Try the rye.....you'll like.

I just bought a handle of Wellers bourbon and a bottle of Eagle Rare ( ER is made at Buffalo Trace) and both were very tasty too!! When I went on the bourbon trail a couple of weeks ago, the two guys I went with and myself thought the Eagle Rare was the best of the 6 distilleries we visited....especially at the price point of $35.00.

My problem is I have too many favorites!! The only one that I have completely culled lately is the one with John Wayne on it. The Duke I think? Anyway, priced way too high for the taste.

Wathen's Single Barrel has been my "high-end" bourbon lately ever since Elmer T. Lee has all but disappeared.

The best thing about bourbon (compared to some other liquors) is that you don't have to spend much to get some really good stuff.

That's the way Scotch used to be....... could find decent stuff that wouldn't break the bank and then it seemed like it sky rocketed in price in a very short time. It's actually one reason I switched to Bourbon and Rye.

Yep, until time travel is possible, distillers will have to keep aging it the old fashioned way.
