I've used the search and haven't found exactly what I was looking for. So if this is a repost then I apologize in advanced no hazing please;) Which M1 carbine would you buy with a limited budget say not over a thousand. Best bang for buck, the most accurate and most reliable.

Depends if your looking for a Milsurp or Modern Replica like a Universal. I own a Universal myself (I love it), it's one of the most popular weapons that I have everybody wants to shoot it when we go to the range. Milsurps you can find online in that range or less just have to watch condition. Of course that goes without saying with anything used. I reload for mine and not unusual to run 100-200+ through it a trip.

I have a universal and I'm almost afraid to shoot it after reading other posts on different sites because of reliability problems ie like blowing up. I'm glad you like yours have you had any problems with it.

I've had it for 5years, and it was in my family for 20 years before that. So 25+ years of service and many rounds through it. I know for a fact I've put 1500+ rounds through it and have had NO problems. With the exception some Mil-surp magazines work fine and some of them don't. I have 10 - 15 round mags, 10 - 30 round mags, 3-5rd mags. I've had more problems out of the 30rd mags and none with the others. I shoot my reloads and Mil-surplus through it regularly.

Personally,I prefer the military ones..but if were buying commercial, I'd go with Fulton Armory or Mil-Tech as they are closer to the orig. military..Doesn't mean I turn my nose up from Auto Ord. They've had some pretty decent reviews in the gun pubs.

Yes mine is a 3rd gen, it has the Slide Lock on the right side of the reciever below where the rear sight would be. I have an old Original Aim Point Scope on it. Like I said all the guys (and myself) really like to put some rounds down range everytime I take it. LOT's of fun to shoot!
