Best metal frame 9mm

Love my DWX compact. Changed that red trigger out, and put some Vytal mfg grips on it. IMG_1902.jpeg

but replaced it recently because it’s value went up too high for me to be comfortable handing it over to a cop…a full size base CZ should run you 5 to 600 dollars now with the SP01s running a little more.
HA! Same reason I stopped carrying my Rami D....and rarely carry my PCR D! The Sig P365 gets the carry 90% of the time now. With MAGGUTS in the mags the capacity is now 14+1 which is awesome in a pistol this small.

I've got the itch for a metal framed full sized 9mm. I don't want a 1911/2011 style. I would like to be able to get a threaded barrel to shoot suppressed. Good aftermarket support is a must! I like to tinker with things. Use will be a range toy.

Sometimes I regret selling that $250 CZ 75B I once had....

If you had a budget of $1200 what would you buy and why?
If I had a budget of $1200, I’d be looking at a few solid options that hit all the marks you're after. Here are a couple of recommendations:

  1. CZ 75 SP-01: You mentioned regretting selling that CZ 75B, and the SP-01 might be the perfect way to scratch that itch. It’s a full-sized, metal-framed 9mm with excellent accuracy, great ergonomics, and a smooth trigger. Plus, it has a threaded barrel option available for suppressors. The aftermarket support is solid with tons of upgrades and custom parts to tinker with, from sights to grips to springs.
  2. Beretta 92FS (or M9A3): The classic 92FS is a full-sized, steel-framed 9mm with plenty of aftermarket support. It’s easy to find threaded barrels and a wealth of accessories, and it’s a range-friendly choice with a reputation for reliability. The M9A3 variant, while slightly over budget depending on deals, offers even more customization and features.
  3. Sig Sauer P226 Stainless Elite: Another great option that’s often available in the $1000-$1200 range, the P226 Stainless Elite is a steel-framed gun with excellent build quality, accuracy, and reliability. It’s already a bit heavy but has a solid, crisp trigger. Sig has great aftermarket support, so you’ll have no trouble finding parts to tinker with.
All of these choices offer the metal-frame feel you’re after, suppressor readiness, and plenty of opportunities for modification. If I had to pick one, I'd lean toward the CZ 75 SP-01—it’s a fantastic shooter, and you can find great deals on it, especially with the threaded barrel included. Plus, if you miss that CZ 75B, this one might feel like a return to form!
