I've been studying the knock off that academy carries. It looks as good and I know a few people that have them and love em. I also know a few people that have BGES and swear there's nothing better.

Love mine, choke it down and your charcoal stays good. I bought the kick ash basket for mine a while back, better burns.
Copies are just that. BGE or Komodo Joe unless you only cook quick garbage like me. I am not a skilled smoker so a gas grill is what I use. I'd love to have the know how to have a bye. I even offered to baby sit one my buddy owns that he has never used. Lol
I've always wanted to order a kamado grill straight from the manufacturer but haven't pulled the trigger yet

IMHO, a BGE is basically an outdoor oven. There is something primal about smoking and grilling and the BGE takes all of that away.
I have been going back and forth between the BGE and the Kamodo Joe. BGE's office is in Tucker, but the smokers are made in Monterrey, Mexico by Daltile.
With a life time warranty I wouldnt be to concerned. but I pass through Tucker often.
Kamado Joegrills are made in Yixing, China - I'd rather have Messican Q than Chinee.
