August is definitely the month for encountering them, at least in NW GA. Have trained the dog to alert then stay back until told to leave it.

We used have a dog do same thing when she found a snake just bark. Don’t have many poisonous snakes around our place. Have good crop of King snakes around .

All good unless there's a chance that someone will get bit, especially a child. If it’s on a sidewalk, pop em.

Like the other day in Tn some goober hiking on a trail sees Timber rattler and picked it up play with it my guess he gets bite and dies. It’s hard to regulate stupidity. My suggestion if u have kids sit them down give them class with pictures of poisonous & non poisonous snakes and teach them not mess with them.

True when i was a kid i catch small non poisonous snakes put them corn crib so help keep mice population in check.

A few years ago, I saw a big King Snake that apparently lives under my deck, in a hole near the foundation of my house. I'm happy to have that big dude living there, because he eats the Copperheads, and Cottonmouths. I have not seen him in awhile. But I hope he is still down there, taking care of the snakes that would kill my dogs.
