Bought a Vortex scope today

In that case, I think I'd agree. I've heard more good than bad about Vortex. I know Leupold is solid as a rock. The adjustments are spot on and the glass is good too. Plus resale is good as well. You can't beat their warranty. If I had my druthers a good ole Redfield or Nikon would be great for a rimfire. But they're not made anymore
The old Burris were good as I was told. I've never owned one. I tellya that Leupold VX II might be great for that rimfire. Thinking about it, I like the idea

There a lot of new scopes on the market Like Arken, Maven, Hawke, Black Hound and others that get excellent reviews but no one in here knows anything about them. I am just trying to get the skinny on those scopes. Oh well I guess it's back to Back Fire you tube for scope reviews.
Someone said there were a lot of good options given in this thread but all I see is Sightron, SWFA, Vortex Viper and Leopold VX lll. A couple models were spelled out but a brand is very specific.
I find myself always going back and forth between Vortex ( mainly because of warranty ) and I had a Vortex Viper PST that had super clear glass. It was a Gen l and the illumination was weak but over all a great piece. However, these days almost 85 % percent of the scopes are made overseas and mainly china. I know very little about most scopes and I ask about several in here to see if the guru's have any experience with them. However tunnel vision has a very narrow view of anything right in front of them. Hell half the scopes from Vortex are made in China or the Philippines.

Arken EP5 5-25x56 is the best MIL-MIL scope under $1000 on the market right now. It's built to high production standards with a decent optical performance. The reticle is true to clicks and the turrets are reliable. The scope is a little heavy, but this can be forgiven thanks to its other features.

I loved the M-223 and the M-308. The 308 model came in at 599 with the mount and that scope was phenomenal for the money. The M-223 was great as well. I hate the went belly up.
Well I got nailed to the cross upside down for buying a Vortex on sale but they do have a decent track record. I will probably go with the Vortex Viper HS for my 6.5 Creedmoor unless I get specific info about another option with similar features.

So I guess there is good and bad with them all so get one and ship it back if it fails. I have learned absolutely nothing. It's either trijicon, night Force, Schmidt and Bender or just use the open sites and don't waste your money on in scopes built in China. I guess good quality fentanyl is the only thing you can buy from China that's worth a damn! 😤
If you are not dialing DOPE at the range. There are plenty of good scopes under $1,000 with very good clarity, that hold zero. Even below $500.
Accurate tracking and dialing DOPE are very expensive attributes but are not necessary for most shooters and hunters.
The EP-5 5-25 in on my saved list on Amazon. I was wondering if that was a good option. My life long friend ( well one of the four brothers ) is a straight up lights out shooter. He said his next scope was gonna be an Arken. I love the reticle in that scope and the price is right as well. The Viper HS, the EP-5 and the Maven is the three I had picked out but can't nail down a decision. I am so indecisive when it comes to scopes. I guess my lack of knowledge on them keeps me guessing. There is also Kenton industries that make custom turrets for those scopes. Once you find out the ammo you will be shooting they will make you a custom turret. Takes all the time and mess out of figuring ballistic drop. I like that idea.
That all I wanted to hear basically. Just decent glass that will hold zero, have illumination and exposed turrets. That's all I need for no more than I shoot. I go to the range maybe 2 or 4 times every six months. It's a long haul to a good place and ammo cost is stupid.
