Bought a Vortex scope today

Well I am buying scopes for two different guns. I am just a range junkie so I don't need all that much scope. I looked through a Swarovski the other day and it was amazingly clear. There was a mountain about a mile away and you could see the trees in definition from that far away. The Ziess scope was the same way. Outstanding clear glass but that is what you get with a 1000 dollar plus scope. These boys around here don't play when it comes to there by hunting scopes. Bolt actions and high dollar scopes is the norm for the series hunting community. However, a couple of guys switched to Arken and do not regret the change. I wish I could get my hands on one and see what it's all about.

One of the reasons picatinny is so popular is it makes easy moving a scope from gun to gun. Accurate, durable adjustments will save you time and money at the range.

Sighting and SWFA were great budget options......15 years ago. Too much competition and better options these days.

An old SWFA will still move POI where you tell it. Time will tell whether this cheap Chinese stuff does.

The cheap Chinese stuff won't. That's proven time and time again.

There are better options out there these days than old swfa and sightron stuff. Same budget and less. Sightron in particular. They bought the old Weaver Tac scope lineup and had LOW rebrand it. Weaver was doing it, exactly, before Sightron. At least SWFA came up with their own designs. But they have updated nothing and are obsolete nowadays.

The DB Tacticals have an awful track record on tracking. Make sure to test the tracking.

Well this particular one doesn't have exposed turrets so that might not be the case but if it is I will keep sending it back until I get a good one. One of the benefits of a lifetime warranty.

There has to be less expensive options than Nightforce or Trijicon. Those just can't be the in only option for light duty range shooting and occasional hunting. I just can't do 1000 bucks for scope. I would have to take out a separated policy for scopes or just change my insurance carriers.

What is there not made in China, in the same price range, that functions are accurately and reliably? What are the improvements?

Leupold VX III series. Not the best, but good for the money

good luck finding either one of those for $1000... I have Nightforce and love it. I've had March scopes and loved em. I'm a bit of a Trijicon fan but I haven't used any of their scopes unless you count ACOG.

You're not getting the overall quality of any of those brands by cutting your budget but you've been given some great options. You seem to be ignoring them.
