If you’re gonna go 13.7” or 14.5”, might as well do a pin and weld and not limit your options to a brace only. I’d only mess around with a pistol brace if I were gonna go 12.5” or shorter.

I was interested in doing a 12.5 but the ballistics are the same as a 7.62x39 from the info I have gathered, correct me if I'm wrong.

That would depend heavily on what ammo you are comparing.

I’m not recommending a barrel length. I’m saying that my personal opinion is that if you’re going to do a build with a 13.7” or 14.5”, you might as well have it pinned and welded to a “legal length” of 16” and not screw around with being limited to a pistol brace only. If you’re going to do a pistol, make it short enough to make it worth your while. Again, my personal opinion, and has nothing to do with ballistics.

I have decided to go with a carbine length gas block and tube, with that being said what would you guys recommend for a buffer and spring combo?

Nope. I’d run a Vltor A5 system with a Sprinco “green” rifle spring, and the A5H2 or A5H3 buffer, depending upon the port size and whether or not you want to run it suppressed and/or unsuppressed.
