It appears that you have an older Buck. If you would like to keep the original knife, let the company know when you send it back and they will replace the blade in your knife.
Most of the newer Bucks don't have the hammer striking the blade on the nail. They just say BUCK.

Buck knives is the best. No questions asked warranty. If it's broken they will repair or replace.
I think they are still in El Cajon California.

Some are still made domestically, a lot are now made in China. When in doubt, look at the markings on the blade itself. I've even seen a few where the packaging has the made in USA logo, but the blade is marked China.

you used your cutting tool for prying and you want the company to warranty it? Hey when they lose tons of money because they send people like you new ones, you should go see if it can pry apart the 2x4s in your deck. Maybe they can upgrade you when they replace it again.

sheesh

Why is it Buck advertises on TV "made in the USA" but when I look at one in the store it is made in China?
It's that whole parts from China but assembled here in the US thing most likely. You know, it's not a "knife" until it's put together so technically it's made in the USA.

Many of Buck's models are now made in China. Have been for well over a decade.

You just have to look at the individual model to see where it's made.

OP: You can fix that tip with a file and some wet/dry sandpaper or a belt sander.
Buck might replace it for you, but why the hell would you ask them to? It's still a perfectly good knife. It just has a shorter blade because of how you used it.
