Building first AR15

Arken was used first and then he swapped it out for a proven unit. I recommend it but he did it before my recommendation. He has done some thinking of his own and it was wise so he knows a good bit of how to weed out problems.
Correct first was a brand New Arken EPL-4 in a vortex mount all torque values set per manufacturers instructions.

Follow the torque value for the rings from the scope manufacturer, not the mount manufacturer.
Correct. 18inlbs on the rings. The scope manufacturer won’t give a torque spec for the mount to the pic rail so I used the mount torque specs which is 65inlb on the sig mount.

Borrow someone else's rifle and shoot it and see what you get.

He’s done that. He’s shot my Zev Core Duty a couple times and has had no issues with shooting groups out of it. We’ve taken it out to 500yds without issue. I moved away otherwise I’d help him and get a second person behind the trigger, but I’m confident that the shooter isn’t likely the problem here.

There's a decent possibility of crushing your scope tube by not following the scope manufacturers specs doing that. Low end scopes like that one aren't built to take 25 in/lbs. reliably.

I torque all my rings to 18inlb all manufacturers recommend 15-20inlb. That I have ever used.
