Buyer Beware of Sky Guns International

Well Dave, they were warned. That can't be denied. After reading this, I wouldn't do business with them, and I am sure many others wouldn't either.

On another note, leaving negative feedback for deals that didn't originate here can open the door to a bunch of unconfirmed accusations.

Luke

I don't know if either buyer found Sky here. Truly no transactions go through the ODT; this is just a place for buyers, sellers, and traders to meet. As it says on the bottom of every ad: "DISCLAIMER: Always comply with local, state, federal, and international law. The Outdoors Trader does not become involved in transactions between parties. Review our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for more information."

You are right, though. We don't want a bunch of BS feedback every time someone goes into a gun store with a presence here and that may be a slippery slope.

I hate to suggest this, especially with all the categories that the ODT has, but maybe a category for reviewing businesses would be in order. It still may not get the word out, as I only visit about four areas of this site and I am sure there are many that do as I do.

I do agree, there should be a place for listing bad experiences with businesses. So that everyone can be warned.

I just went back to read some of the earlier posts in this thread and ran across this :

... We admit to being behind on the production of lower receivers, due to the fact we are not receiving the necessary raw material on the schedule it was promised.

Was Sky Guns indicating that they actually produced lowers? "Raw materials" generally means an unfinished forging.

Since we began retail sales in June of 2012, we have been a licensed manufacturer since 2006, we have delivered over 9000 rifles.

Under what name? Your FFL notes a residential address. Did you produce 9000 rifles in your garage?

Believe me, I do understand peoples frustration more than anybody, we paid for barrel blanks in November for delivery in December that we have been told we will now have to wait 120 business days for. Those who know us and have done business with us know we stand behind what we say and what we produce. In the first week of December 2012 we had a 7700 unit backlog which has been completely filled, in February, due to demand we took on more because people asked us to.

Do you actually turn barrel blanks into finished barrels? Where does this take place and do you own the company that does this work? Who is "we"?

There is no 'we', he's inflating the company. Like I said earlier, I've been by his 'shop' There is no way he's turning out barrels and receivers in his one car garage. And if he's got a real shop someone where he does the work, then the ATF will be pissed about him not listing the address on the FFL.
I'm curious about the statement about producing lowers. Does anyone on here actually have a rifle from them? I want to know what's marked on the receiver.

He could be using the "royal we"
A quick PM to the guy with the Sky FTF thread should answer that.

Did he get his rifle?

Look at this mess:
http://www.skygunsint.com/catalog_detail.php?product_id=85225

delivery starting at the end of April to early May for the lower receiver and upper receivers ship in 3 to 5 business days. We are offering some of the best delivery times in the industry as most manufacturers are requiring you to want 1 to 2 years to receive their product

So, if you buy this crap, they'll get you a rifle in a week, but everyone else makes you wait over a year? That funny, I see new rifles from everyone but these guys every day. The blatant and outrageous lying is getting to me now.

Or he's a reseller for a real company and is using someone else's numbers as his own? Who knows? That's why I asked for clarification from SGI. I'd like to hear some answers from the horses mouth.
