I recently acquired a 1992 standard 10/22 and proceeded to order new factory sights to replace the damaged ones that it came with. Ordered them from Midway and the new front sight is too small and will just slide out of the dovetail. WTH do I do? I assume that since it's a factory Ruger part that even if I order from Ruger I may have the same issue.

Return the sight for a refund. If you want iron sights for a 10-22, consider these-http://www.tech-sights.com/ruger3.htm

They are much easier to shoot than open sights.

I would stake it if a gap will not be apparent.

Or, use JB weld as a caulking compound to fill the gap. It works pretty well and the JB Weld is a gray color that is barely noticeable.
