Camping scare stories.

One time I was digging a hole in my front yard for a plant my wife had bought. The ground was pretty hard anyway but then I hit something with my shovel. I started digging around trying to figure out what it was and it turned out to be a small metal box with a lid on it about the size of a loaf of bread.
I got it out and knocked the dirt off and I could see something written on it. I wiped it off a little more and could read "DO NOT OPEN"
Well that told me right there to open it right then so I did, slowly.
There was an old creepy doll head with one eye rolled up in it's head and the other one gone. I could see something in the corner of it's mouth so I stuck my fingers in there and pulled out a folded piece of paper.
Then I opened it up the folded note and read it.......................................It said "I ain't got no body"

:D

Last year I bought these items at a local auction. For some reason they spoke to me. Apparently Gene Ward was a very accomplished shooter in more than one pricipal. He won awards and it would appear he made the award board and he wrote the big wins and dates on the back. These items sold for a suprisingly good sum, and while bidding I was damed determined that I'd bid until I won, which I did.

Now I've been in my 2002 home since I bought it in 2006. Short of an attic squirrel invasion I've never heard, seen, or felt anything out of place. Incidentely I sleep in a finished bedroom in the basement right next to my loading room. I've been there to accomidate a back injury from a 2020 auto accident. The king size sleep number bed upstairs actually hurts my back more than it helps.

Almost immediatly after placing these items in my reloading room things started to happen. I started hearing things making noises Noises like papers rubbing in a trash can. Noises amoungst a neatly stacked, nested and organized bunch of cardboard boxes saved for shipping needs.

Being me, and with my past experiences, I made an immediate association, but still put it in the back of my mind. that was, until....

Note: The East end of my loading room is 9' wide, and built against a finished 3/4 buried exterior wall.

Until.... out of no where there was a loud thump. The thump was above and in front of me as I stood at that east wall of my loading bench. It came from an area between the ceiling and floor above. It wasn't on the outside, It was 100% a knock on a hard wood surface on the inside of the wall. It happened once and then two more times. I knew what was happening and why. Having spent
several thousand hours down there, and without the slightest hint of anything out of the ordinary. Not one thing since moving in since buying this house in 2006.

This continued on a regular basis for several weeks. The thumps were somewhat unnerving.
Now, this is the point that I shoud mention. I have a 30" deep bench which runs 35 linier feet around this large room that is my reloading room, and in the center of that East side portion I mounted a three drawer tool box to the underside of the bench.

To the right of this tool box is where I slid the photo and plague when I brought them home from the auction. Each night when I'd go to bed I'd hear these movements, the knocks only once. I suspect it was because I was in the bedroom and not my loading room. The knocking only ever occured on the East wall while I was in the room, but not always at the east wall.

At bed time I'd lay in my bed and in my mind I'd tell Gene I could hear him making noises, I told him I knew it was him making the noises, and I knew he liked my reloading room. I told him he was welcome. I told him I admired his accomplishmens and he was welcome to do whatever he wanted to do. I did this in silence, you know telepathically if you will.

I think it's important to mention. Throughout all of this I never got the goose bumps, never felt anything negative, or positive. All that happened were the noises that were never there before. However, I knew the source. Despite my internal mind conversations the noises continued.
it contnued until the night I sat up, turned on the end table light and had the same conversations. The difference, this time I called out Gene by name and told him aloud that he was welcome. I told him he could hang out, load ammo. I said he could handle the guns and just enjoy himself.

After that there has not been one single additional occurance. Yes items pictured below are still in the same place under bench. I hope Gene is enjoying his stay. There is no doubt he was a very accomplished shooter.

And since I have been thinking on this I’ll a true story..
a few yrs ago i contacted a guy on this this forum that had a cement statue I wanted.. he got back with me and said it was mine if I wanted it.. I went and loaded it in my truck.. then he preceded to tell me that the previous owner and statue had a body connected to it.. I’m sure you know what I mean..
brought it home and then the ghostly things started happening.. my grand daughter was in the range of.2 years old.. she would stare at things that we couldn’t see.. she soon started talking about the man that was on the wall.. and I actually saw some one of the same height as my middle daughter step into her bathroom, I knew that she was not home.. long story short, since I got rid of the statue all things spooky have since stopped
yes we gotta be careful with the things we bring into the house.

Would you like to buy Gene's Items? LOL, they are not for sale. Gene even had a pin from River Bend Gun Club. He was a LEO in Florida, a few of his items went to the Fla LEO museum, I was told something of that sort by the auctioneer. The one thing I didn't mention. I bid on line and bought them sight unseen. Wheather folks believe it or not, I feel like I am supposed to have them.
