Me?you serious?
ive seen all of those. this gotta be a story thats happened to you personally.
Years ago in the 80s a friend of mine was hunting in National Forest on the river in Oglethorpe county. With his stepson and a friend. At dusk his stepson had to came out of the woods. They had to go get him. When they got to him said he saw something walking upright through the woods. He said it was so big he was scared to shoot it. And to scared to get out of the tree. His stepson went back in those woods again.I have a sort of scare story. Idk, it startled me at least. Not camping but hunting. This happened to me yesterday morning.
So I get out to this WMA a good ~2hrs before first light to go ahead and stake my claim (There were a lot of people there). I slip into the creek bottom unnoticed, as far as I could tell.
By the time I sat down I still had an hour and a half or so if darkness before any sort of light started to crest. So I sat up on a tree and just waited until anything interesting happened so that I could move into it. At this point I just shut my eyes for a second to try to catch a little lost sleep.
~20 minutes in I began to hear footsteps coming toward me. Slow, deliberate, certainly bipedal, nothing at all like a deer or hog.
I though "Well crap, here comes some schmuck gonna set up right in my lap." So I whistled out to him to get his attention. No reply. Footsteps came closer, same deliberate pace. I whistled again, louder. No change in pace.
At this point I'm thinking this guy gotta be deaf or something. He was getting close enough that I expected to see a light or silhouette or something. But I still saw nothing. Then this thing stepped into a shallow cypress knee pool and waded through it, making absolutely no splashes, just rippled water, like a gar swimming near the surface of a lake.
I whistled again, as loud as I could. Still nothing. Then I cut on my light in his direction. Mind you this was one of those can't-see-the-hand-in-front-of-your-face kind of mornings. Nothing. And it kept coming. So now at this point I had my gun up and ready and my handgun unbuckled in its holster. I called out "Hey, hey, watch out, I'm sitting here" and the footsteps kept coming closer. They finally got about 10 yards from me and stopped. 30 seconds passed of eerie silence and whatever it was made an about face and walked back the direction it came. Scared the piss out of me.
So what was it? Man? Sasquatch? Crackhead? Skinwalker? Who knows. If it was a dude, I don't see how he could have possibly navigated without a light in that kind of darkness, or acknowledged my calls to him. Maybe he was rocking some NVG's or something.
Oh and now for the scary story. I met another ODT'er yesterday in the woods. True story.
Not sure if this constitutes as scary enough for this thread but it sure freaked me out. Let me know what you think, or if I'm just retarded. I'm back at the same spot today so wish me luck 🤞
