Can a snake climb a tree?

Yeah, at about the 1:00 mark you can see my wife in the window. She was not amused.
I removed the snake and took him to the woods and let him go.

Good snake to have around the house but waaayyy too close for me. My wife would have been on top of my shoulders demanding that I "do something"....Luckily she missed the king snake that came for a visit on our deck last week.

My basset hound chased offa rat snake this afternoon. My husband picked up the snake and relocated him farther into the woods

I saw on the local news that snake population is increasing due to mild winters

Here is one climbing up our back door.

You know if you park an airplane in your yard by that back door all the snakes will get on that plane... problem solved... Your Welcome.

My question is how the hell does a snake know what is WAY up high in a tree to eat???

Have a regular that climbs the wall to my shed and sleeps the winter away in one of the nooks in the overhang.
I never see him, even when working in the shed, but I know he's there....
I figured him as 6 foot last time I saw him.

We get garter snakes in our bird houses.

Haven't had that happen yet.
I'll bet the first time it was a big surprise!
