Candlemaking

I'm looking to start making some candles for emergency use. I have been saving jars for a while and wondering what use to put them to until it occurred to me that they would be fantastic for jar style candles. Then I started looking into wax and wicks...

I have been shocked at the price of wax so far. I stopped off in Hobby Lobby and it's $2.50 a pound there! So far the best I can find comes up to about $1.60 per pound at a website called Lonestar candle supply.

Has anyone thought about it? If so any tips on supplies?

Yes, but generally, from what I have seen so far bees wax is significantly more expensive than soy.

The answer is yes. But good golly miss molly, look at the cost!

$6 per pound. Unless, of course, you have your own bee hives.

Good to know and thanks. I dont have any hives but i do have about three pounds that someone gave me i might just give it a try.

Read before you do. Get it too hot and you may have a fire. Be careful. Let me know how it goes so I don't burn MY house down too.
