Texas Pete is like non spicy flavored wing sauce to me, but I do like the black label. I will use Texas Pete if there is nothing else. Habanero Tabasco is really good too.
My wife LOVES Texas Pete on Publix fried chicken. Now Publix fried chicken IS definitely better than any other grocery store fried chicken and better than KFC by a long shot. But as of last week they upped the price from $8.99 for 8 pieces to $10.99. Sumbitch! Everybody is out to get you these days.

Yeah, commercially canned tomatoes are a no go for long term. Home canned in ball jars, don't know. Any canners got input?
Tomatoes are tomatoes no matter who canned them or where. They're good for so long and that's it. The wife takes tomatoes from the garden and puts them in the dehydrator along with freezing some. We also have dehydrated jalapenos kinda broken down into flakes that you can shake over whatever you want to be hotter.

Fact. Just don't buy it. Does anyone smoke in your household? Just curious to see if that makes any difference in taste preference

Gebhardt at one time made a fine canned chili with or without beans. Stopped being produced a good while back. Still buy Gebhardt's chili powder for homemade chili. No beans in my bowl of red if I make it. If someone else makes it, I'll eat it as it comes.

No smokers here. I was in Kroger during the week at one of the registers where they keep the cigarettes and the price for a pack of Marlboro Reds was $8.10. Damn! I thought Newports were high.

..... She likes Texas Pete which is just salty red vinegar to me . Now Texas Pete does have one called Hotter Hot Sauce with a black label that's pretty good but not easy to find .....
Agree on the black label Hotter Texas Pete, it's the only commonly found brand i think is worth a damn. The only place I can find it is at the Piggly.

There's a Freshway Market close to us in Byron that carries it . They USED to be the place to get leg quarters and thighs . Not anymore.
