Something... sometime in the past happened and kept making him to think she was a threat to his best friend: YOU.
Dogs are protective, and something triggered that behavior. VERY, VERY SAD, FOR SURE.
I hope your bride gets full recovery from this situation. Unfortunately, I would probably had lost it(if was me) and shot him right there at the moment, as much as I love my dogs, BUT they’re NOT in no way, above my Wife!
