Well I guess I'm driving my base model 2012 Civic until it dies. I was considering upgrading, but all the new features are off putting. Even my car has things I could do without.
Amen. I took my Wife to look at new cars a few years ago. She sat down in one at the show room. In future shock, she never even asked the first question. And she hasn't brought up the new vehicle idea since either

I turned off those "features" on my Tundra, there have been a few posts on other forums about it.
I was driving my dad's new Lexus last year. I was having to fight the steering wheel as it had lane control on it.......Car is harder to get in and out of too. And it brakes automatically too.  . Well he likes it, OK, good for him. It's his money

I knew back in the 70s there would come a time I would no longer want a new vehicle. It lasted longer than I thought it would.
You're probably the most versed on vehicles around here.
The Vic should be a good one. I've had a few along the way. Have a Merc now
Well I'm no mechanic so I don't know all the minute details of what's good and what's bad. But I er the years working at car lots and an auto salvage I HAVE learned what is good and what is ****. Like when people used to call the junkyard and start out by saying " Yes I have an 01 Taurus..." I would cut them off and say "And it has a bad transmission." Then they would ask how I knew that. Well mostly because they ALL do. The first gen Taurus was a decent car. 96 and on are to be avoided. Just like VW, Audi, Mitsubishi, most Nissan models, most Dodge models and so on and so forth. Oh and obviously... Jag and Land Rover are to be avoided like HIV.

I got a good laugh on HIV.......🤣

We are at the point you can not depend on long term reliability on any new model regardless of manufacturer. You have to look at repairability cost. Example. New crate motor for Jeep wrangler models are 6000. New Tundra engine being installed by Toyota due to their problems 23,000. Turbos installed on f15O at dealership 6.000. Turbo cost on new canyon, Colorado 600 for the unit. I have never bought an extended warranty on any new car beginning when I was 20. I am now 63 and do buy something every three to four years. Next one will probably have the extended warranty but only one done by the manufacturer.

I thought Jag/LV fixed their issues under the new ownership? Was told it was something to do with firmware. Wrong? Not that I care. I’d never buy either.
