I like the hornady spray. I have had great luck with it. I use a LOT.

Measure/examine the expander ball on the stem in your FL die?

can also remove stem from die and see what diameter your die is actually sizing the neck down to before the ball resizes the neck to sammi.

there MAY be excess sizing happening with that particular die.

Having never used the Hornady Unique lube, I applied till they felt “greasy” enough and used the brush inside case neck, pretty much just like the RCBS video I watched today shows.
Hate to throw that lube out but I’m certainly not against going back to the old pad.
Do you know a better process for the paste lube? The internet is all over the place.😵‍💫

I use wax. Have been using it now for 30 some odd years. Imperial, Redding, any number of them. One Shot, I think, is another brand. I just dab between my thumb and index finger, run my thumb across the case opening and then twist is around in my fingers until it's slimy, then run it through the die. Never once and a separation.

That’s the way the Hornady Unique is, a paste wax sorta deal.

I will measure the expander ball and die but I did get a new expander, swapped back to the old RCBS pad and case lube, ran the entire rest of the batch (about 60) without a hitch. Now I know I should’ve only changed one thing at a time to determine the exact problem, but don’t have the money or patience 😉 I believe it was a combination of “dirty” brass and trying new lube and not using it correctly. Going to finish processing it later this evening and will measure some stuff. I did get the die set second hand and replacing the expander was cheap.
I will follow up but I appreciate all of your input and experience so far.
