CCW Road Trip - GA to NY

All good advice.

My parents have a vacation home in MA, lovely place, and once a year I drive up and back. No firearms, no ammo.

AVOID MD at all costs if you have a firearm in the car, they scan out of state plates and cross reference carry permits and pull you over and turn your car inside out.

I drive to Charlotte, and up 77 to 81, you avoid most major cities, avoid heavy traffic, bad roads, and all the crazy tolls. That route takes you all the way to NY in the easiest way possible.

And it's a beautiful drive to boot.

Hopefully this is a trolling post... It would be truly sad if someone who carried a pistol on a daily basis was this uninformed about the legalities of what they are doing.

This isn’t a question about the legalities. I’m fully aware of them. I’m asking everyone’s opinion on what they suggest a person do if they were to make a similar car trip like this. Basically, would people travel as far north as they can with their firearm and drop it off somewhere in a legal state or just leave it at home. I’m traveling with my family, so my priority is our safety as we hit the road and head into unfamiliar areas. I’m seeing a lot of great suggestions on here, so most of you understand what I’m getting at. Thanks again everyone

I used to take the same route to Central PA, but I'm not sure my car registration and GWCL can be cross-referenced by another state agency. I believe they just play the odds that someone from a Southern state might be a firearm owner.

Your GWL can't be cross referenced in the State of Georgia - there is no central registry. If the issuing probate judge's office is closed, there is no way for LEO to check to see if it is valid. A fact all the wannabe Junior G-men in S&S seem to overlook.

So your surmise that the other states engage in "profiling" is correct. It just doesn't violate the terms of the generally accepted PC rules to target white men driving SUVs with Southern state tags.
