Cerakote? Worth it or not

yes you can heat the air dry stuff. the folks at NIC told me they do it all the time.. that said just about all we use is the heat cure..as it is tougher.. it's really not that hard to make a heat box. google around and you'll find quite a few designs folks have made for themselves.. mine is a wooden box with foiled foam inside lining the box.. we heat it with HF heat gun... easily reach 400 degrees if you need it, but we cure at 250 or so for a longer period of time ( 2hours)you also can now order direct from NIC and get all the colors they make.http://www.cerakoteguncoatings.com/

Does the cerakote air cure work pretty similar to the oven bake? I've duracoated a few guns and they turned out great ( prep, prep, and more prep) but I understand that cerakote is tougher. I don't want to go through the oven bake process unless it makes a huge difference.

Its still pretty tough... usually a flatter finish. I have a firearm in the air dry.. no issues out of it at all
