Chainsaw Mill

Thanks for your input @crmorse. I did check Craigslist the other day but guess I needed to open up my search area since @Flip853 found one and posted the link to it earlier this AM. As for the planning, I know of a few mills in and around the Statesboro area that might be willing to do it for a fee. I need to make some calls to be sure. If I get good news on that I will pass it along for anyone who may be interested.
 
I'm like you, I wonder if you could cut a board bigger than 17" wide by turning it around and going the other way. I doubt it. Seems like the saw would bind up at the tip if the tip was not exposed

Yea I generally keep the tip away from everything, since it's so related to kickback.
 
Good point about kickback! If I decide to go this route I will do my homework (measuring trees) and prob upgrade my bar from 20" to 28" to ensure I am able to get the most out of the trees I have down.
