Changing the Latch on a Charging Handle...yay or nay?
My brother told me not to even screw with it and just buy a pre-fabbed charging handle with the latch that I want...but I really don't want to spend $45 + shipping for a damn charging handle...guess I'm just cheap...but I feel confident in my fiddling skills(home gun smithing LOL).

You just need a punch and should be able to reuse the roll pin if you don't booger it up too bad. Too easy to do in my humble opinion.

that pin is so tiny that you better get a 2nd one just in case you lose it or beat it up ......

and you will never know till ya try

plus some of the tactical latches dont work well with single or 3 point slings ........tend to give the gut a good jab ..

but they are great for easier charging with scoped ARs ....

I've got a Badger Ordnance latch on my Daniel defense. I like it.

A magnet to hold the pin as it comes out and while you put it back should help.

hardware stores sell the roll pins if you do bugger it up. I beleive they are called "Tension pins" at the store
