Cheap Handgun/Shotgun

I have one listed for trade but again I'm not WAY up yonder.
I would like a shotgun and a handgun. I didn't make the decision to get a firearm on a whim, it has been several weeks of debating with my wife, looking into classes, ext. We feel it is within our best interest to be prepared for the unknown. I do not expext to have to use either but better safe than sorry.

the background taking a month is bs. the system should get you an instant yes or no and if its a hold, you get it in 3 days unless you cant own a gun.
if a shop tells you that you must wait a few months, tell them to learn how to do their job. thank them for their time and tell them you will go to a real gun store..
shame your so far away. i have a 18' single shot 12 ga i would let go for 125...
good luck, hope you find what you need, and check with some real gun stores..

I wasn't lecturing or judging earlier. Just saying I have a 12 gauge pump listed. If you can find a Savage 320, Maverick 88, H&R Pardner pump or one of the Turkish brands like Dickinson, Chiappa, Charles Daly they should all sell for about $200.00. Less if they're used.
Hi Points are fine If you need a pistol at home. But they're not what I'd call carry guns. I own to C9s and a 40. I dig them but wouldn't want to carry them everyday. So you should be looking for something like a Taurus G2 or a SCCY . But I assume both would be hard to find in gun and pawn shops right now.

Jacob, from what I saw online about last year's firearms training classes for citizens in Bartow County, offered by the Sheriffs Office, it was for handguns only.
Not rifles carbines or shotguns. So if you're still in the market for a shotgun, you'll need to figure on getting some education / training / coaching for it.

Just a thought. You mentioned discussing this with your wife. Consider who will have access to this firearm and where it will be located. If children are in the house take extra measures to lock said firearm away. Firearm safety is just as important as knowing how to shoot it.

understood, I have a safe place for it that is not accessible to my children but easy enough for my wife or myself to get to in case of an emergency. As previously stated, this is not a decision made lightly.

I would prefer both; any advice and/or recommendations are greatly appreciated!

I understand, thank you for the advice. I don't know much about guns, up until here recently I'd never even considered having one near my house but... I don't trust my "neighbors". I've heard one to many stories to not take my families safety into consideration.
