I first noticed how well the wise food buckets stack but where not airtight. I've got some wise food but nothing in buckets.
Then the wife brings home cat litter in a bucket...I thought boy that looks familiar. As it turns out the cat litter bucket is the exact same bucket as WISE uses to store their food pouches in.

These are not good for storing ammo or heavy gear as they are not heavy duty enough--but they are "cat's meow" for all manner of other odd ball stuff.
I have a quantity of Mountain House and Wise pouches that I transferred into these buckets from cardboard boxes.

But if you've got loose pouches of Mountain House food or other light gear like loose MOLLE gear or odd stuff, these buckets are great.
Cat litter is not toxic and these containers clean up in minutes.

Just passing it along for what it's worth...

If you want some cheap more durable buckets that are free then drive around to grocery stores and get the icing buckets. They are a pain in the ass to clean but I use em for cat food, storage and my husband even has some with food in em. All it cost us was to drive around and ask for em.

Great idea!

I got some from walmart and they did a good job of washing them. Also, from Ingles but were not washed. Got to lick the bucket..

They won't hold up in the sun, but they have a rubber ring seal that makes them pretty air tight. I bought a 50# bag of salt for less than $10 at Ladds in Cartersville and stored it in the bucket.
