Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question or not.
What type of rifle scope would I get for a .22 or 30.06
Not sure of the best power or how to choose.
Any input or suggestions would be great.
Thanks
John

Leupold Rimfire for the 22
Leupold VX-2 or VX3 3-9 or 4-12x40
Is hard to beat for most hunting rifles, (like a 30-06), used in GA
I'm a bit bias

What is your budget? The ones listed above are excellent optics. Don't get suckered into thinking you need a huge objective lens. 40mm for a 9 power is plenty.

I have a couple of cheap NCStar scopes on my .22's but I don't hunt with them, either. Lifetime replacement warranty. Ask me how I know!

Leupold is a well-respected name in the industry and their price reflects it. They recently bought the rights to the Redfield name and produce the Revolution series. The Revolution scopes are made side-by-side with their more-expensive Leupold brothers on the same assembly line in Oregon.

I bought a Redfield Revenge scope because I wanted the highest-power scope that I could reasonably spend money on. I thought it was made in their Oregon assembly line but it was made in the Philippines. Still a decent scope for the money.

Good luck in your search!

Almost every manufacturer has several different levels of scopes to meet the needs of people ranging from the once a year hunter on a budget to the guy with a huge bank account and wants to impress his hunting buddies. You can not say anything about a brand that will be true for all of the scopes they offer. You must specify the brand and model to know what you are talking about. You will be stunned at the price range of some scopes.

I have been very happy with the mid grade NIKON - Buckmaster series that costs around $300.00. I use a 3 - 9 power with a 40 mm objective. Higher power will let you see a target at a further distance, but limits you field of view. A larger objective lets in more light, but you can see past legal hunting time with a good 40mm. Anything larger costs and weighs more for little benefit.

You should go to www.opticsplanet.com and cruise around to see what is out there. It is a good place to compare prices of many scopes. They have a tool where you can adjust the minimum and maximum price to narrow your choices...

GOOD LUCK

That blows. First line in the advertisement is "BUILT IN OREGON,
HUNTED ACROSS THE COUNTRY" I try to buy American when I can and bought a couple pairs of New Balance shoes. Great shoes but only a couple types are made in America. You have one assembly facility here and you can claim made in America apparently.

I have been scope shopping myself recently, it's a bit overwhelming all the options there are and some prices too. I am considering either a Nikon Monarch Or Leupold VX 2or 3, I hunted for years with a Tasco world class and killed many of deer and hogs with it, so you don't necessarily need high end optics to be successful. As far as the .22 most manufacturer's have a line of rimfire scopes and usually priced $150 or less. I need to get busy hunting season will be here before you know it.
