My 2021 Anaconda 8" on top, and my recently acquired 629-3 6.5" on the bottom. The Anaconda is absolutely slick as butter, but the 629-3 has a feel to it all its own. So good!

Part of me wants to put a Weig-A-Tinny Mini rail and red dot on the 629-3 for hunting, but I don't want to bastardize such a clean pre-lock.

The Hogue rubber irks me on both though. Some nice Altamont, Eagle, or possibly VZ grips are likely in the future for both.

Also a pic of my unfired 3rd gen Colt SAA in 45 Colt. Some days I want to shoot it until the rifling is gone, but most days I just admire it and then tuck it away.

Nice score,Jack. I noticed some type of inscription on the underside of the barrel lug. I couldn't quite make it out in the ad pics last night. Just wondered if it was done at the factory, indicating the limited run of this version of the 686 CS series, or a law enforcement electro pencil indicating maybe a badge number or inventory number.

That has to do with the import markings for German distributer special model which is who ordered the security special from Smith & Wesson. It is offered by importer (former) Wischo, now Waimex for at least 15 years or so.

Thanks for the info. Just trying to learn a little more about that particular version, and could not find a pic of the underlug anywhere on the web.

For anyone who may be looking, Cherokee Gun & Pawn had a nice S&W 32-1 today. Pre-lock, pinned barrel, firing pin where it ought to be. Slight holster rub on front right of barrel and front edge of cylinder. Timing is perfect. Lock-up was tight.

I didn't snag it, but I did pick up a new 617-6. Perfect companion to my 629-3.
