Cleaning New Sig Compact Carry

New to the forum and gun ownership, so please forgive the basic question. I'm looking for favorite tools and/or methods for cleaning your handgun. Specifics like your favorite solvent or the tool set you got from Amazon would be awesome. I've done the research and have the basics. However, I'd love to pick-up some tips and tricks from the veterans.

I did search the forum and wasn't able to find anything. If this thread has already run, please feel free to point me there. The gun I purchased is a Sig P938.

Well you've come to the right place. There will be a slew of varying methods and products. Most will be fine ideas, and most name brand products will do the job.

As for myself, I prefer Rem Oil and Hoppes. I'd recommend following your factory instructions but pretty much for basic field cleaning/breakdown, clean everywhere you see dirt/powder residue. Lube up everywhere metal touches metal.

As far as tools, your Sig should've come with the tool(s) you'll need for basic break down. If you want to go further, get plenty of experience and seek professional guidance with the know how and tools.

I used to be a critic till I tried the stuff, I run frog lube on all my stuff now. My AR's love it and so does everything from my Glock to my FN's. Welcome to the "hobby" it's gets more expensive from here on out haha

Thanks for your reply. I found a basic kit with Hoppes at Walmart today which had everything I needed and was less than $10. Performed my first cleaning today. The gun thanked me!

welcome to the forum. nice hopes is good stuff. your gonna get a 1,000 different things to clean but heres what i run

i have only ever used gun scrubber by birchwoon casey to clean
i run frog lube in the summer and only rem oil in the winter on my guns
because the frog lube is thick and can run actions slower in the winter time.

I use hoppes, rem oil, frog lube, and I've recently discovered Lucas Gun Oil which is becoming my favorite.
