Cleaning Tip

I follow James that used to be at teufelshundtactical now at good old HK in Columbus and he suggested a cleaning tip that worked surprisingly well. Before reaching for a liquid cleaner of some kind, take a cloth rag/towels and wipe off as much as will come off. I tried this on a very nasty AR BCG and 98% of everything came off without any cleaner at all. Cleaning was faster and almost no mess at the end. Just passing it along.

I always wipe everything with one of those red shop towels and a dry brush and use the air compressor to blow off anything loose. Whatever is still there gets a wet brush with a solvent on it.

I couldn't believe what came off with no cleaner. That bcg had about 300 rounds suppressed on it. Honestly, the only thing I needed liquid for was what I couldn't get to with the piece of t-shirt I use for rags.

There's something therapeutic to me about the smell of Hoppe's 9 and burnt powder while cleaning guns. But I'm sure it's giving me brain damage so there's always that 🤣
