I figured if there was money to be made, they'd come up with somethin. But yea, not the same. I bet the quality won't be eitherThe CMP will be making NEW M1 garands!!! But, IMO, just not the same as a WWII weapon. Receivers will be made by a company not far from the CMP.

Brand-New M1 Garands Are Back Thanks to CMP :: Guns.com
CMP has been reviving old government M1 rifles for decades, but it moved into new-production Garands recently, with a promise for more variants down the road. The minty-new CMP Garands will be available in .30-06 Springfield and .308 Win.www.guns.com
Sounds like they may stop all mail orders due to inventory and just do store sales.Writing has been on the wall for awhile now. That's why you've seen a transition at the CMP towards the 1911 sales (which they have a ton of right now), the Tisas replica 1911s, and now new manufacture Garands. If you look at the CMP financials, though, you will see they are quite healthy and not going away any time soon....
