I meant to reply last night. You didn't break the Mas 49. My SOP is to clean and inspect any new to me gun before firing it. The Mas slipped through the cracks and I took it to the CMP without cleaning it after purchase. The bolt was covered with gunk and the rest of the rifle was full of all sorts of crap. Several people had shot it and when you went to shoot it.........nothing. Just joking about you breaking it.
