Cold weather got me started……..finally!

Super close to going to the paint shop. Bringing it in Monday. Pulled the front and rear glass. Fortunately only two small rust spots that need to be addressed. I know it could be a whole lot worse on theses old trucks.

Notice a drip under the truck. Looks like the 50 year old power steering pump finally decided to give up. I pulled it and it’s coming out from around the pulley shaft. It’s nice to know that after a year of working and learning on this truck, I can swap it out no problem! A year ago I couldn’t say that.

Rebuilt power steering pump installed and road tested. It couldn't of gone any smoother! Out the door at Napa after the core charge it was around $85. I wonder if I pulled up to a mechanic shop and if they would work on an old truck, what they would be charging me to replace the power steering pump?

I think an independent shop would. Dealer probably not. getting where they won't work on my 94. They tell me they can't get parts. Sounds like a load to me. I'd hate guess on price. I think my shop did it for around $250. I replaced hoses and all. I didn't feel like fooling with it, but I did have other things done too. F250, 4x4 with a big block. Looked a little tight

It's hard to find a good mechanic you can trust. I definitely don't have a dealership I trust near me. There are a few small shops where you can get a fair price, but they are fewer every day.

Unfortunately so. I worked on cars and trucks for years but now I just can’t do it physically. I still have all the tools and even my side shop set up at my mother’s house (that my brother is now in) . It is a separate garage from the house . Made for a great side shop when I was able to fool with them.
I worked on them so long and had such a following that I had to turn down work, just about every week !
