Random question here, anybody here ever take college courses over the summer. I know they are more fast pace, is it a lot harder as they say? Could I take 3 classes in one month and survive? Any advice or suggestions?

Depends on the school. I assume you are talking about a short semester or maymester when you say within a month, so my suggestion would be to plan to have no life outside of school. Holding down a job while doing so would be very difficult.

depends on the school and the particular class . my fiancée almost died after taking 2 at once as her school breaks summer into 2 "minimesters". she took 4 classes every summer and was wiped and that was with her living there having nothing else but school. I personally think though as long as its not a math or science class your good. your histories, criminal justice, and anything that deals with book learning and memorization isn't that bad.

My first semester of college was a summer semester. I took 15 credit hours. It really just depends on what courses you're taking. I wouldn't recommend taking anything you know you're going to struggle a lot with, as you can easily fall behind. 3 classes (9-10 credit hours) should be doable.

Finishing grad school now. Here is my advice: If it is lower level (intro courses) and the whole 3 months then 3 (10-12 credit hours0 would be fine. Examples would be a English and a political science or psychology. If it is the Maymester 1 class will be fine those will beat you down. Depending on the school they may only let you take 6 credit hours in Maymester so that would cut out 3 classes. If you are planning on taking a math or intro science (Biology/Chem 101's) I would only take one course, with a science you would most likely have a lab in the day sometime to go to. Online classes usually are available during the summer and can help lighten the workload but it is easy to miss assignments in those because there is no class.

Upper level classes- you really want to schedule those in fall or spring as they take up much more time.

Also keep in mind what you will be taking in the fall and which classes are only available during fall and spring semesters.

Hope this helps.

My school maymester is from the 6th to the 20. 3 classes in that ammount of time would be nearly impossible most maymester classes are a minimum of 3 hours long and are every day. But if they are online and don't require a lot of work than maybe. I'm taking my capstone class in may and my last class in June, I could possibly take them together but its only two weeks of class that dosn't give you very much time to get work done.

Yea im going to be taking two lower level 3 credits each in maymester. ill be trying to take 3 (3) credit classes in june and the same in july. They are upper level, but my major is criminal justice and I believe all of them may be online. Anyone know if this is doable? I will just be working my part time job on saturday and sunday.

Stick with some of your easier elective classes. They are great to take over the summer and will still allow you to have some free time to enjoy the summer.
haha i have enjoyed my last two summers by not taking any classes. I should have in hindsight. I am already committed and ready to sacrifice any fun this summer to get some courses in and graduate in the fall.
