Colonoscopy Prep

Who said medicine was a theme park. I am due one considering my age but I am putting it off as long as possible. The very thought of it is degrading.
Don't put it off. The degrading part can't be anywhere near as bad as wearing a bag to poop in for the rest of your life... not kidding! I know several who wish they would have went when the turned 50ish. Some are still alive but more are dead already and under 60 to boot.

I just had my first a few weeks ago at 52. What I found so disturbing is when I woke up, I had no idea what had just happened! They found a couple things to cut out so later I had a slight sensation of a wound. A little extra metamucil and a good healthy diet never a bad thing. True story. Pictures to prove it. Kinda weird to see your stuff like that on a photo copy that somebody printed up for the doctor and me to look over.

You damn right about that. I have friends to prove it. Bags and all.

I have ulcerative colitis. Have done three of these in the past year and a half. I did prefer the miralax OTC prep to the Golytely (what a freaking name). Prep is horrible, procedure is very simple. With my condition it's going to become a fairly routine part of my life going forward, but much better than the alternatives of possible undiscovered colon cancer, continuing to use the bathroom 20-30 times a day, etc.

Was nervous the first one I ever had, but at least the three I've had the doctor (my gastro specialist) and her support staff have all been incredibly awesome. Keep in mind I'm only 32, so I'm younger than when this is recommended as a preventative procedure. Also in the case of my insurance, they'll pay 100% as preventative without it having to apply to my copay/out of pocket max, so I've had two free $15,000 medical procedures this year. To me that's a win.

The procedure was far better than most anything else medically I've had to do. Quick nap and then wake up and get dressed.

I did"t get enough gas and it felt like a rat crawling around inside my stomach chewing on my intestines. When I was awake the doc said were going to have to do it again. I said you can do it again but I am not.

The last one had about 2 years a go. They put me under and for some reason i woke up when they were just about done. I just laid there for a min watching the tv screen looking at my insides. Figured I would say something like "That pretty cool" and the women Dr asked what was i doing awake, I answered just woke up. She says hold on I just the last little push. At that point I started speaking a little loud O MY GOD THAT FEELS SO GOOD DONT STOP the whole place started laughing and the Dr was telling me to shut up.. LMAO . Now I know why they put you to sleep, didn't really feel that great.
