Another fan of the 4 5/8" barrel myself. I'm like tas6691
and have at least one of each length in various calibers, but almost always find myself reaching for the short barrel shootin' iron. If you are gonna go with a Ruger, do yourself a favor and look for one with the combo 45 LC and acp cylinders. 45 acp is so much cheaper to shoot.
I'll be going Uberti on cost grounds, and for the hammer mounted firing pin. Ruger make a fine gun, but in this case it's nostalgia rules, so as close to original as I can afford, (and that's Uberti territory !).
