Which is better? I am looking at a DE 1911C at the LGS. They have 2, one with bushing for $573 + tax, and a bull barrel version for $642 + tax. Is the bull barrel worth the price difference? Thanks for your input. Mike

The bushing-less barrels were more of a compact 1911 fix to increase reliability. If it's a full size it really doesn't matter too much. A bushing allows a fitted bushing. An aftermarket barrel is easier to install but only an issue if swapping barrels.

The bushing-less require close tolerances to operate so it may be a better fit overall.

$70 to look cool.............

get the bushing model.. you can get custom fitted bushings to help the gun's accuracy..

any barrel upgrades would be cheaper..

If you are using the weapon with stock factory ammunition then it likely will not matter.
Bushing less bull barrels typically feed better and they offer more case support, some are fully supported.
so if top loading the cartridge or Plus p diet you might consider that.
I own 4 Commanders and none have a Bushing less barrel, I do have full sized 1911 and defender/officers size with the bushing less barrel.
really depends on your feelings about what system that you like.
