Concealed Carry laws in Georgia...

Did you have a firearms instructor before this incident? If so, seems like he would’ve told you to get a carry license if he knew you were going to be carrying.
Sweetheart, I knew better, believe me! 
...I know that GA requires it for concealed carry however, life happened to me in 2017--big time. And I had been going to the range and practicing and learned the basics of gun safety, etc. --I know how to use my gun well, is what I am trying to say. I am very responsible with it with the exception of NOT getting that damn permit! My aunt applied for hers this year, and it took them 4 months to process and mail it to her. BELIEVE me she was pissed. She is a city council member too!

OCGA 16-11-137
(b) a person carrying a weapon shall not be subject to detention for the sole purpose of investigating whether such person has a weapons carry license.
Nothing prevents a Leo from asking as long as you are not detained solely for that purpose.
So you are walking down the street with a pistol on your hip....a Leo can ask you if you have a permit. You don’t have to answer, and absent any probable cause you have committed or articulable reasonable suspicion you are about to commit a crime, you can’t be detained. But nothing in the law prohibits a Leo from simply asking.
OCGA 16-11-137
