Years ago I was in Manhattan and went to the Conan O'Brien Show. Tom Selleck was on the show and it was during a brief period when he had shaved it off. They did this little gag about his moustache dying in a hospital bed. It was pretty funny.

In my last job it was two fold. It was a restaurant company so there were sanitary concerns. Second, the issue had come up for debate at the board level, and it was going back and forth until one person mentioned that NFL refs weren't allowed to have facial hair because studies show a perception of aggressiveness with beards. CEO made his mind up right there. I was very happy to leave this company.

nice beard , i work for the biggest oudoor media company in the USA.... all of us have beards.. its kind of a requirement to work here.

Fortune 500 VP level position had a beard for years. I always kept it short. Never an issue at all. Now I'm unemployed and clean shaven. Hmmm....
