Could use some advice guys.

Im usually on the gun side of outdoor trader but noticed this forum so Im hoping you guys could share some experience.
I don’t know much about fishing gear.
I brought my spinning reel back from Norway where I fish from shore.
Its a 4000 size Abu Garcia Soron. I use it on an expensive norwegian brand approx 11’ rod there. Im wanting to fish from shore here on the lakes and from the shore down in different parts of florida.
Would I be ok buying a smaller rod for the stx40 and be able to cast smaller lures well or am I going to have to buy a smaller fishing reel in addition to a rod?
Any reccomendations on a decent quality setup either smaller rod and reel or a rod for the 40?
Sorry to be so ignorant just havent kept on these things since I was a kid...

4 series is way bigger than you need.
Cabelas has some good house brand combos and a 2 series or 2.5 series will be sufficient for a good all purpose set up.

I second what great white said. That would be a good surf set up, but for around there 2000 or 2500 series would be better. A rod in the 6-7' foot range would be ideal.
