Cowboy Coffee as the sun goes down

I can dig that. I've had a coffee bean grinder since the 90s. I really like being able to take fresh beans and grind them from coarse all the way down to powder fine espresso grind. Good espresso will make your hair stand up.
Funny thing is that when I do got to a Starbucks there's all these damn nerds in there ordering complicated ****. So the employees have to get their names and make them wait. Me,I just ask "What's the strongest **** you got ready right now?" And when they tell me I just go " Okay give me that." $2.10 later I'm on my way.

I'm the same way. I NEVER go through the drive through because it takes about 10sec to make mine.

The perfect way to finish the day.
Went down to the woods after supper to make a little fire and brew up some coffee!

Started the fire with 7" piece of jute string, unwrapped and clumped into a birds nest.
A good hand full of twigs on top and a strike of the fero rod and we were off to the races.

Made a flat place to set 12 oz. of water.

Throw in a handful of fresh roasted coffee.

Let it set for a little while. Put the lid on it and pour it into a cup.
The Stanley lid has holes in it that make a perfect strainer for the grounds.

Listened to the creek babble, scared a ground squirrel, watched a few birds pass through, sipped coffee. aaaahhhh

Awesome! I picked up one of those Jet Boils with the French press parts. Same deal, killer coffee in minutes. Nailed the recipe over years. Get the water off right before it boils, throw in the grinds and 3 1/2 minutes later, coffee as good as any I've ever had.

You're on top of it, French press style coffee is the way to go in the woods!

Looks like an easy enough project when you get bored and you're camping ....

Eh. True cowboy coffee gets a little bit of cooler water dashed on top to help the grounds settle before drinking as well as being poured into another cup not because of heat but because steeping a large amount of coffee that long ruins the coffee itself...

My next camping trip will likely be a hunt on Ossabaw Island. I'll probably try one then.
