I use pink / green Electric Chicken lures on hooks that are tied to a monofilament loop, not tied tight at the hook. That way the hook has some freedom to swivel in the water and mimic the movement of a fish. Also put one of the little marshmallow Crappie Nibbles made by (Powerbait)... on the tip of the hook.
Use a long light pole with a cheap reel. Set your depth maybe 12 to 14 feet and put a lead weight about 2 feet above the hook. Put a cork on it. Jerk on it as soon as you see the cork start to move. You will set the hook more times than not if you do this.
