I remember hearing a funny story years ago about some photographers who got their hands on a super duper telephoto lens. It was brand new to the market, and they were doing some testing & evaluation. They decided to take it out to the airport and take some photos of planes taking off and landing.
If I remember right it was a 1200mm or 2000mm lens -- a 40lb beast of a lens. You can imagine their shock when the airport SWAT team showed up ready to take them down, "based on reports we received about terrorists pointing a missle launcher at planes."
